Jack Sparrow Costume
Jack Sparrow must be the most famous pirate today even though the name is a fictional one. He is the star of the Pirates of the Caribbean films starring Johnny Depp and also of the children’s book series Pirates of the Caribbean: Jack Sparrow which were written to go with the films.
If you want to be a pirate at Halloween or at a fancy dress event, a Jack Sparrow costume must be the first choice. It’s a very attractive costume. There are three examples of the costume below. Clicking on any will take you to more choices to buy.
The Prestige costume is more expensive but definitely the more impressive costume comprising many parts:
- brown jacket
- white pirate shirt
- blue vest
- across the chest belt with a buckle
- brown pants
- boot covers
- hat
- bandana with beaded braids attached to it.
This is the officially licensed Pirates of the Caribbean 3 costume. If your friends can go with you as Davy Jones and Elizabeth Swann, you’ll definitely make a big entrance.

In the first film Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) Jack is out to get his ship the Black Pearl back from his mutionous first mate Hector Barbossa. Elizabeth Swann, the daughter of the Governor of Port Royal is captured and held hostage by Captain Barbossa and his crew. The film is about Will Turner (friend and admirer of Elizabeth) and Jack Sparrow’s attempt to rescue Elizabeth. The film was highly successful as were the two sequels.
A real life pirate who Jack Sparrow could have been based upon was Bartholomew Roberts. Bartholomew was known as Black Bart. He took 470 vessels prisoner. His ferocity was so well known that many ships surrendered without a fight.
He served as a sailor before his own ship was captured and then took to piracy. After only six week on a pirate ship, he was elected captain after the death of the previous captain. He dressed like a Georgian dandy and his style was like that of Jack Sparrow in the films. Unlike Jack, Bartholomew was a teetotaler and drank tea.
Jack Sparrow could well be modelled after Black Bart but in any case a Jack Sparrow costume makes a fantastic outfit!

The fact that anyone can be anyone on one night of the year….isn’t it fantastic ! You can live your dream and be anyone you want just by wearing costuming that makes you look like your chosen image. There is no other celebration quite like Halloween…is there ?

Great site and I do love the costumes. Good to see that there will be another “Pirates of the Caribbean” film. No one can act the part like Johnny Depp.

I think the Davy Jones deluxe costume is totally awesome but I do wonder how long you could wear it for. The mask looks great but you’d need to take it off after a while. I guess with many of these costumes it’s the first impression that counts the most and then you can get down to partying after that.

Jack Sparrow is one of the coolest characters ever. He is definitely one of a kind, as is Johnny Depp. If I were a guy, this is one costume I’d love to have.

I just love Johnny Depp. I would watch Pirates of the Caribbean again and again just to see him all dressed up in his pirate costume. What a great idea for Halloween!

I really like the Captain Jack Sparrow’s attire. The movie was great, the outfit is great and it would be really easy to wear that outfit and look like the real deal.

I like all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies but still like the first the best. I think that Jonny Depp has played the part better than anyone else could. His costume would be great for a Halloween party!

How good does the Captain Jack Sparrow outfit look. Anyone would look good in this costume. Some outfits I have worn have been fairly restrictive and uncomfortable, but this would be comfortable to wear. Johnny Depp was great in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and you could not find a more interesting character to be for Halloween.

The Pirate attire is classically cool. I’m glad the recent Jack Sparrow movies have made them even more popular. I think we love them because of the whole swashbuckler, partying motiff. Plus the boots are just too cool! I think Pirate outfits will continue to be cool for a long time to come!

Pirates of the Caribbean has to be one of the best movies ever made, although the first one was the best! I would have to say Jack Sparrow’s attire is by far the coolest, as Johnny Deep is awesome! Its very interesting to know that it might have been based off of Bartholomew Roberts, I never knew that, interesting to know though!

I love the Jack Sparrow costume….I love Johnny Depp even more! Such a dream! The Sparrow costume is perfect to pair with a Lady Pirate or wench of some sort…maybe a vixen if you’re daring enough!

Good to see there is a new POTC movie. I guess the movie studio couldn’t resist another fat payday. I’m surprised they could tie the actor down for more movies , especially Johnny Depp, as they tend to feel creatively cramped acting in the same character so often. I think Depp needs new and quirky characters to give his best performances. Although maybe the paycheck talks to him too. I heard he took the role because his kid’s wanted him to act as a pirate.

Hey, I live in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and yesterday I saw the first big billboard ad for the new movie – can’t wait to watch it. I actually went dressed to the last movie as a pirate and it was a blast!

Everyone loves to dress up as a bad guy pirate and Jack Sparrow really adds some coolness to that. I’m not sure if it’s his dreadlocks or his hat but something has made him a massive hit with almost all kids and many adults. I can’t wait to see some of his costumes being worn this Halloween!
