Lady Pirate Costume
If you want to look like a lovely lady of the high seas then you should try wearing a lady pirate costume. These costumes will allow you to make a dramatic entrance as a swashbuckling heroine at any fancy dress event or at Halloween.

Lady pirates were a rare thing but don’t let that stop you enjoying the captivating costumes. Here are some famous female pirates of the Caribbean.
Anne Bonny (1697-unknown)
She was born in Ireland and was the illegitimate daughter of lawyer William Cormac. At sixteen she married a small-time pirate James Bonny and they went to New Providence, a pirate haven. After James turned informer for the governor, Anne ran away with Captain Calico Jack Rackham, a small-time pirate.
In 1720, the Navy captured Rackham’s ship and all were sentenced to death by hanging. Anne escaped because she said she was pregnant. Her fate after that is unknown.
Mary Read (unknown – 1721)
After a time in the military (she had disguised herself as a man), she became a pirate when her ship was captured by pirates. She joined Calico Jack Rackham’s ship and was sentenced to death when his ship was captured in 1720. She was spared because she was pregnant but died in prison.
Flora Burn
She began her career as a pirate in 1741 and sailed off the East Coast of North America.
Rachel Wall (1760-1789)
She was an American pirate and may have been the first American born woman to become a pirate. She was the last woman to be hanged in Massachusetts. She was hanged for robbery.

Legend has it that Mary Read (dressed as a man) fought another pirate (and won) to protect another pirate that she had become romantically involved with. She must have been one tough lady !

The female pirate all dressed up in one of these costumes is definitely a sexy way to go. My favorite is the pirate lady elite costume. There’s so many ways to dress this up–with the pirate hat, long red fingernails, great pirate boots…

Here is some additional information regarding Anne Bonny – According to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (2004), Anne Bonny’s father managed to pay the ransom for his daughter and bring her back to the Charles Town. Soon after, she gave a birth to Rackham’s child. In 1721 she remarried to Joseph Burleigh. They had eight children. She died in April 25, 1782 in South Carolina.

They are great costumes and a bit more realistic than the sexy vixen type pirate costumes. You could have a genuine sword fight (with plastic sword of course) against some other pirate wearing party goer dressed in one of these outfits..and generally act all piratey maties. Pirate costumes seem to be one of the more popular costumes this year. What does everyone else think ?

You’ve gotta love the lady pirate outfits. Not too revealing, but just enough to show how these lady pirates may have gotten their way! Great costumes and much more tasteful than others I’ve seen!

Great Pirate Queen costume. Very creative! I’m so glad the new Jack Sparrow movies came out and made Pirate costumes popular again. High boots, cool hats, and a cutlass. How can you beat that for a great costume.

Pirate costumes have to be the most fun to dress up in of all the Halloween costumes out there! I sure wish I had the body to wear one of those cute pirate outfits above.

I really dig the “Royal Lady” Pirate Costume that’s featured above…Wonder if my royal lady would indulge me. I heard the other day that Disney’s Pirate francise has grossed over 3 billion dollars worldwide…unbelievable!!!
